Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is an unofficial collection of fan works including fanart and writing based on a pre-existing work. In this case, based off of the Disney Channel TV series 'Gravity Falls'.

Will all accompanying photographs be illustrated?
It will be up to the person creating the recipe; some people will prefer their own photos and some will rather have an artist to illustrate it. But that is an awesome option, if you apply/get in, it’s something we can talk about!

How will contributors be compensated?
At least a digital copy and digital merch! If we make enough sales we’d love to provide the contribs with a full bundle of the cookbook and merch if possible : ) but physical reward is never a guarantee.

What would be your refund policy if it falls through?
Now, I know this sort of thing is a concern and I understand it can be a worry but at least two of the mod team on this project have now been in upwards of 30 projects which have included for profit and charity and have a good grasp of what to do. So far [knock on wood!] none of either mods projects have needed to reach a refund stage but all the care will be given if anything like this happens.

If we make drinks, are we allowed to make alcoholic beverages, or is it a dry cookbook? (Or would we need to include a mocktail version)
All contribs need to be over 18 anyway but as for the cookbook itself we will allow it, we will just make a section for anything including alcohol and include a warning, the drink responsibly and so on! Though also having a mocktail version would just make it more inclusive anyway :D

Could 17+ join the project to draw art as long as they're responsible enough to commit to it?
Sadly we will not be allowing anyone under 18 to take part as some mods are more comfortable not working with minors in a project. If you turn 18 before the date of applications closed we will allow it.

I was wondering if you'd be open to vegan/vegetarian alternatives to some recipes in the cookbook. They could be presented as mabel's "waddles-safe" recipes for example. I'd be willing to contribute as cook for that!
This is more than okay! In fact the ‘waddles-safe’ label for it is amazing! We are happy to include any vegan/veggie/intolerance-friendly dish items in this project! Having someone who could do a ‘waddles friendly’ translation of some dishes would be fantastic. We will be having mod apps open for a chef mod in the coming weeks and that might be the role for you. But yes, any alternative versions of menu items for veggie/vegans are welcome.

If you apply and get accepted as a mod, are you able to also be a contributor?
Yes, but only in the digital version of the project such as the zine. You’d be allowed to do digital merch, art, stories, there might be space to do something in the printed version but we will put the contribs first for the physical side.

Will the zine stick to having non shipping content?
Yes! There will be no shipping in this project outside of canon shipping [Fiddleford/Emma - Soos/Melody] and will only be but even then it will be limited.

This list of FAQ will be updated as questions are asked on the discord server/sent into the Tumblr askbox/received in other manners.
